A Cody man has been sentenced to 30 to 40 years in prison after being convicted of sexually abusing a teenager.
According to the Powell Tribune, Jimmy Parks was convicted by a Park County jury in April on three felony counts related to the abuse. At a July 17 sentencing hearing, Park County District Judge Bobbi Overfield sentenced him to 30 to 40 years in prison.
The case began in October 2024 after a teenager disclosed the abuse to a counselor, who contacted law enforcement. Authorities later arrested Parks following an investigation by the Cody Police Department.
The Powell Tribune reported that evidence presented during the case included internet history recovered from Parks’ business computer, forensic evidence collected during the investigation and testimony from the victim. Parks maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings and requested probation at sentencing.
In a separate case, Parks also pleaded no contest to one felony count of perjury related to testimony he gave during court proceedings regarding his assets. He received a concurrent prison sentence of three to five years for that conviction.
The Powell Tribune also reported that Parks’ estranged wife, Amanda Parks, was previously sentenced to 180 days in jail after pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges stemming from the investigation. She is also awaiting trial on a separate felony perjury charge.
