Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon has signed an executive order authorizing emergency transportation permits for oversized and overweight loads of livestock feed and livestock, providing temporary relief to producers affected by ongoing drought conditions across the state.
Executive Order 2026-005 was issued in response to widespread drought, high temperatures, low humidity and wildfires that have impacted Wyoming throughout the spring and summer. According to the governor’s office, the conditions have reduced pasture grass and natural forage, creating a critical shortage of livestock feed and placing additional strain on ranching operations.
The executive order allows qualifying vehicles transporting livestock feed and livestock to obtain emergency oversize and overweight permits for the next 30 days.
While permit fees may be waived under the order, carriers must still obtain the required permits and coordinate with Wyoming’s Ports of Entry to ensure safe travel routes, verify bridge clearances and protect the state’s transportation infrastructure.
The governor’s office said the order is intended to help producers continue feeding their livestock as drought conditions persist across Wyoming.
Executive Order 2026-005 took effect Aug. 5 and will remain in effect for 30 days.
