An injured climber was airlifted for medical treatment Wednesday afternoon after falling in a remote area of Washakie County.
According to the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report at approximately 3:31 p.m. on Aug. 5 of a climber who had fallen an estimated 10 to 15 feet and suffered a head injury.
A Washakie County Sheriff’s deputy, Ten Sleep Ambulance, Washakie County Search and Rescue, Guardian Helicopter and a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper responded to the incident.
Officials said the climber was located in a remote area that could only be reached on foot. Rescue personnel hiked to the injured individual, safely transported them to a waiting helicopter and transferred the patient for air transport to receive further medical care.
The sheriff’s office thanked Washakie County Search and Rescue, Ten Sleep Ambulance, Guardian Helicopter, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and everyone else involved in the rescue, recognizing the coordinated effort required to safely reach and evacuate the injured climber.
