Park County Search and Rescue assisted Cody Regional Health EMS Monday night in rescuing an injured horseback rider in a remote area near the North Fork.
According to Park County Search and Rescue, crews were dispatched at 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 17 to assist with an 82-year-old woman who was injured in an accident involving a horse approximately one mile up a trail near Nameit Creek.
The rider’s exact location was initially unknown, though ranch staff began searching while Cody Regional Health EMS responded to the ranch and hiked into the area. Two Park County Search and Rescue ground teams followed to assist.
The patient was located approximately 1.5 miles from the ranch at about 10:09 p.m. After being stabilized by EMS personnel, search and rescue volunteers used a wheeled litter to transport her down the trail to the ranch, where she was transferred to an ambulance for transport to Cody Regional Health.
The rescue mission concluded at approximately 1 a.m. following a debriefing. The woman’s condition has not been released.
