A Powell man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after police allege he assaulted a woman during a domestic disturbance earlier this week.
According to court documents first reported by Cowboy State Daily, Catlin Stephen Wolfard, 37, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and battery and one count of domestic battery. He made his initial appearance in Park County Circuit Court, where his bond was set at $10,000.
Court documents allege the incident began the evening of Aug. 3 following an argument at the home the two shared. Investigators allege the dispute escalated over several hours before becoming physical during the early morning hours of Aug. 4.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the woman told investigators Wolfard threw unopened beverage cans at her, pushed her into furniture, struck her multiple times in the head and later punched her in the face, resulting in a chipped tooth. She later sought medical treatment and a forensic examination for her injuries.
The affidavit states investigators observed injuries that they believed were consistent with the allegations.
Wolfard was arrested later that day. According to court records, he denied assaulting the woman and provided investigators with alternative explanations for some of her injuries.
The charges are allegations, and Wolfard is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
