Stage 1 fire restrictions are now in effect in both Park County and Hot Springs County as dry conditions and elevated wildfire danger continue across the Bighorn Basin.
The restrictions were implemented by county officials to help reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires during a period of increased fire danger. Residents and visitors are encouraged to use extra caution with any activity that could spark a fire and to stay informed as conditions evolve.
Under Stage 1 fire restrictions, outdoor open fires and the use of fireworks are generally prohibited in unimproved areas. Campfires in established fire rings, enclosed charcoal and propane grills, and certain other activities may still be allowed under specific conditions.
Because restrictions can vary by jurisdiction, residents and visitors are encouraged to review the rules that apply where they plan to recreate.

Officials remind the public that fire restrictions may be expanded, reduced or lifted as weather conditions change.
