A Washakie County resident died Sunday night following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 16, according to the Washakie County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash at approximately 10:11 p.m. on Aug. 2. Authorities said the driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, did not survive.
The Wyoming Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the crash.
The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office said the driver’s identity will not be released out of respect for the family. Next of kin has been notified.
The sheriff’s office also thanked the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Ten Sleep Ambulance, Ten Sleep Fire Department, the Washakie County Fire Warden and the Washakie County Coroner for their assistance at the scene.
Officials also recognized the individuals who came upon the crash and immediately called 911, thanking them for their willingness to help during a difficult situation.
The crash remains under investigation.
