Yellowstone National Park welcomed 903,025 recreation visits in June, marking a slight decline from the same month last year, according to newly released visitation statistics from the National Park Service.
The park recorded 903,025 visits in June 2026, down about 3% from 928,250 visits in June 2025. Despite the decrease, June remained one of the park’s busiest months of the year.
Through the first six months of 2026, Yellowstone has hosted 1,676,678 recreation visits, a 1% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. However, visitation remains above pre-pandemic levels, with year-to-date visits up 6% compared to 2021.
Year-to-date visitation totals through June include:
- 2026: 1,676,678
- 2025: 1,690,922
- 2024: 1,633,739
- 2023: 1,492,843
- 2022: 1,258,834 (park closures due to historic flooding)
- 2021: 1,587,998
Yellowstone’s busiest year on record remains 2021, when the park welcomed more than 4.8 million recreation visits.
As the busy summer season continues, park officials encourage visitors to plan ahead, recreate responsibly and follow safety guidelines to help protect both themselves and Yellowstone’s natural resources.
